As I was pinning my way across the web this evening, I kept coming across numerous quotes on passion. By the late Steve Jobs, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” While the quote does not directly mention passion, but I believe that is the essence of what he was saying. Be passionate about what you do and you will do great things. Don’t settle! This spoke volumes to me as I find myself still struggling with what my purpose is in this life. Who am I? What is my calling? What am I equipped, called, and gifted to do and be? What am I passionate about? I’m 30 and I don’t know what I’ll be when I grow up. So I’ll look at this quote and remind myself that when I find it, I will know it in my heart, and I won’t settle until then.
The other quote that jumped out and clung to my heart was one by T. Alan Armstrong I found on a blog. I was searching blog ideas as I so desperately want to revamp and revitalize this little started blog of mine. Over at Smart Boy Designs I found some great advice on starting a blog; from naming it to what to blog about. The biggest piece of advice he had to share was be passionate about your subject. This is where the quote was and of course it spoke more deeply to my soul than a mere piece of blogging advice. Loved the quote and stuck it with a graphic little image of a girl reaching for hope.
I’ve always used passionate as one of the words to describe myself, but this quote really made me stop and think. What have I been passionate about lately? Sadly, I’d have to say not much of consequence. So where do I find my passion again?
Where is the source of my strength? Is my faith full of passion? Have I settled for a lackluster relationship with God?
I think the source of finding my passion and the answers to my purpose lie in reigniting a passionate faith and authentic relationship with the Author of Life.
