Open My Lips

There’s this song inside me
waiting to break free
Let it flow
burst forth
O’ God let me sing
this song
as you lead

Fall at Highbridge

Perspective in Color

Aaron and took an impromptu trip out to Highbridge last week, and after managing to tiptoe my way out to the edge of the observation deck (I was in high heels, and the deck is grated; I got stuck a few times) we were rewarded with a spectacular view.  Hope you enjoy!

Open to Suggestions

It’s been tough coming up with subject material lately.  So, I’m asking for your help.  What would you like me to write about?  Topic, subject, person, place, whatever.  I’ll take your suggestions and write my next few posts.  Hope this can be fun!

Texas Turmoil: A Boomer Sooner Take

Yes, I am a Sooner.  No, I do not like Texas.  However, due to the impending hurricane, which I hope causes minimal havoc and damage, and to the emotional uncertainty of a certain Texas football player, I cannot turn ESPN or the news on without Texas on the tips of tongues.  Most of the time [...]

Soundtrack of Life

What would define a life-changing moment for you?  If we all lived in a movie, we would have our own personal soundtrack playing as we lived our lives.  Some moments need a strong overture of instruments while others, a simple melody.  I don’t think movies would be the same without the scores that guide our [...]

A Blogging Driven Life

I just got done reading a few of my friends’ blogs; ones that I hadn’t yet discovered.  I was more than pleasantly surprised at what I found.  What caught my attention the most was the simplicity portrayed.  Even though there was depth and even eloquence, their words simply showed their truest selves.  I find that [...]

FreeRice.com: Ending World Hunger, One Word at a Time

Apart from winning some spelling bees in elementary school and helping me spiff up some essays and papers, I never thought my rather large vocabulary would achieve too many great things.  However, after clicking on a link about some crazed wife trying to denigrate her husband on youtube (they are in divorce proceedings), I came across [...]

Mini Cooper

I just got done reading the blogs of Carol and Keith Cooper, two very close friends of Aaron and I.  Carol was Aaron’s youth director when he was in high school.  They were both in our wedding as attendants and are both two people we look up to very much.  Their friendship is something we [...]

How Great Thou Art

I am a nanny.  One of the perks of my job is getting to play with the kids and be creative.  Today, I got to paint!  I had not painted since my elementary days in Mr. T’s (no, not that one) art class, and I surpised myself.  While I am not about to enter this in an art contest, [...]

Seeing is not Always Believing

This post is a little past due, but I’m a grad student and I have been busy!
I was inspired recently by a 19 yr. old guy from Louisville, KY.  Since Aaron and I currently reside in the Bluegrass state, I was especially impressed by this “hometown” teen.  He plays the trumpet, is a member of the University of Louisville marching band, [...]
